Message: A place to worship
1 Kings 5-8 (a long passage describing the construction of the temple)
1 Cor. 6:19-20
1 Cor. 3:10-17
1. The temple that Solomon built was a beautiful and profoundly important structure. It brought unity of worship to the people of Israel. While this temple was very important at the time, God stressed that something was more important than the temple itself…their hearts. Describe why the heart of the worshiper mattered most?
2. Now today we do not worship at a temple we worship in the church but the heart of worship is still central. What do you think the consequences are for the church if we just go through the motions and our hearts are not in it?
3. Jesus stated in John 2 “destroy the temple and I will raise it up in 3 days.” Describe how Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of the temple.
4. The bible states that each of us is a temple of the living God. What does that mean that we are Gods temple, and how should that impact how we live our lives? (review 1 Cor. 6:19-20, and 1 Cor. 3:10-17).
