Marriage Part 1

January 31, 2016 Speaker: Chris Carroll Series: It Is What It Is

Topic: Marriage Passage: Genesis 1:26–1:28, Genesis 2:7, Genesis 2:18–2:23

Discussion Questions:

1. If you are married, share with the group how you and your spouse met. What were some of your expectations when you got married? How did actual marriage differ from your expectations? What advice would you give now to a couple looking to get married?

2. The Oxford Dictionary defines marriage “The legally or formally recognized union of a man and a woman, or two people of the same sex, as partners in a relationship.” Discuss this definition in view of our present culture’s view of marriage.

3. God created the longing in man for his indispensable companion, and then God provided for the man when He made woman. God is seen as instigating the need, and then meeting it. How can that be applied to our present day search for a spouse?

4. The first marriage consisted of man, woman, and God. In the sermon, Pastor Chris called this the trinity of Eden (man and woman with God at the center). How can this picture out of Genesis be applied to our marriages today?
